Mary Anna Couch, 83, of New Sewickley Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in
New Alexandria, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Byers, Sr. and Mary Josephine Petock Byers. Mary Ann lived a life rooted in love, loyalty, and deep devotion especially to her beloved husband, Donald A. Couch. United in marriage on May 4, 1963, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in
Imperial, PA, they shared 63 beautiful years together, building a life defined by unwavering partnership and enduring love.
In addition to her husband, Mary Ann leaves behind a family who was the center of her world: her son, Donald A. Couch, Jr.; her daughter, Kimberly A. (the late Michael J.) Anderson; and her cherished grandchildren, Rebecca (Darren) Hay, Donald A. (Kari) Couch III, and Elizabeth (Dylan) Sodergren. She was a proud and loving great-grandmother to Madison, Kaylee, Alayna, and Blakely, each of whom brought her endless joy and pride. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Laurie Couch; brother-in-law, Robert Dietz; sister-in-law, Barbara Couch; and her cousin, Jake Bartos.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Anna Marie Couch; her sister, Gerri Dietz; her uncle, Alvin Jakse, uncle, Frank Jakse, uncle Private Joe Jakse, her brother in-law, Daniel E Couch, and brother in-law, Ronald P Couch.
Mary Ann was a woman of warmth, grace, and many talents. In the mid-1990s, she followed her passion for beauty and style by studying cosmetology at Franco Beauty School in Ambridge. She went on to enjoy a rewarding career as a beautician at the J.C. Penney Salon at the Beaver Valley Mall, where her kind spirit and gentle touch made a lasting impression on all who sat in her chair.
She will be remembered for the love she poured into everything she did especially in her kitchen, where she created meals and baked goods that brought her family together time and time again. She found joy in life's simple pleasures: afternoons by the pool, shopping trips (whether she bought something or not), lively card club gatherings, and her time with the Red Hat Society.
Above all, Mary Ann was a devoted family woman. Her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by those she loved. She had a nurturing heart, a quiet strength, and a way of making everyone feel cared for and at home. Her love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
As her family and friends say goodbye, they do so with deep gratitude for the memories she created and the love she gave so freely.
Mary Ann was comforted by the devoted presence and professional care of her granddaughter-in-law, Registered Nurse Kari Couch, who remained at her side, providing comfort and support until the very end.
The family also extends their heartfelt thanks to the first-floor nursing staff at Heritage Valley, Beaver, and to Good Samaritan Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Mary Ann.
All services will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, in Mary Ann's memory to Good Samaritan Hospice.
