Mary Jane Crabb (Buchanan), 72, passed away in the afternoon of December 25th, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 3rd, 1951, in Vigo County to Edward Hawley Buchanan Sr. and Mollie Marie (Hargett) Buchanan.
Mary Jane is survived by her three daughters Stephanie Jane “Janie” Anderson (Curtis), Marcy Jo Daub (KC), and Molly Jane Meeks (Ernie). She is also survived by her grandchildren Isaac Anderson, Meghan Salinas (Emily), Shelby De Leon Vasquez (Felipe), Kaylee Larison (Ramsey), Quentin Anderson (Olivia), Abigail Anderson, Caleb Wymer (Cale), Seth Wymer, Jack Kensell, and Sam Kensell, along with many great grandchildren. Surviving her, also, are her siblings, Don Buchanan (Marilyn), Ron Buchanan (Karen), Rose Shattuck (Henry), and Hallie Fox (Ray).
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Mollie Buchanan; her twin brother Terry Buchanan, and brothers Ernie Buchanan, Seth “Digger” Buchanan, and Edward “Pete” Buchanan Jr. her death was also preceded by her husband Willard “Bud” Crabb Jr.
Mary Jane was known by many names throughout her life, Mary Jane, Mern, Mary, and Momma; however, the name she was most proud of was Mimi, as she was lovingly known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary Jane wore many hats during her life, while raising three daughters she also worked at Columbia House Records, the West Vigo High School Cafeteria, and Saint Mary of the Woods College, where she worked until she retired.
Mary Jane instilled the values of hard work, honesty, and determination into her children and grandchildren. Anyone that knew her knew how willing she was to always lend a helping hand when needed. She was outdoors as much as possible, there was not a flower she could not name, and she planted and maintained a vegetable garden every summer. When she wasn’t working in her garden you could find her enjoying her second love, reading.
Mary Jane will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her amazing sense of humor, and her loving heart. She will truly be missed.
Visitation will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 10AM – 12 Noon. Private family services will follow, with burial in Bethesda Memorial Park.
