Mary Ellen was born on December 27th, 1945, in Derby CT, the daughter of the late Mary (Crowley) Breitenberger and Dr. Paul Vincent Breitenberger. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a master's degree in teaching. Mary Ellen worked as a school teacher for over 35 years, 34 of them at Bungay School in Seymour teaching 2nd Grade. She retired in 2003 and shortly thereafter, answered the call to take over as the head of religious education at St. Augustine's church in Seymour. Mary Ellen was quite the social butterfly, enjoying spending time with her many friends and family that are too many to list here. To know Mary Ellen was to love Mary Ellen and she would do anything for her friends and family. She believed in helping people in need, often donating her time and money to charitable causes. Mary Ellen was a devote Catholic and was a member of St. Augustine's parish for her entire life in Seymour. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time doting on her grandchildren. Above all else, she loved complaining how messy her husband kept everything, especially the basement and garage. Mary Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Daniel, her son Matthew and his wife Danielle (Stanio) of Seymour, her brother Paul Breitenberger of Shelton, and her grandchildren Mason and Jaxon. Family and friends will be received on Friday December 6th from 4PM to 8PM Miller Macari Family Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, Seymour, CT 06483. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday December 7th at 10AM at St. Augustine's Church at 35 Washington Ave in Seymour. Burial will immediately follow at St. Augustine's Cemetery on Cedar St in Seymour. The family would like to thank the doctor's, nurses and staff in the Neuro Trauma ICU ward at Yale New Haven Hospital. To leave an online condolence. Please visit www.millermacarifh.com
