Mary Frances Darnell

Mary Frances Goodwin Darnell March 28, 1942 - August 1, 2025 Mary Darnell age 83 of Bessemer, Alabama passed away on August 1, 2025. She was born March 28, 1942 in Bessemer, Alabama to Floyd and Lillian Goodwin. She was the youngest of eight children. She was affectionately known by her nieces and nephews as "Aunt Baby". She graduated from McAdory High School in 1960. Mary loved to watch things grow. She would plant seeds in hopes of a beautiful bounty. In her early years she loved to sew. She said it was often out of necessity. She would get fabric for 10-20 cents a yard and make Darlene peasant shirts, and Dawn bubble outfits. She quilted baby blankets for her grandkids. She loved watching "Gunsmoke" with Dwayne. She also loved to cook. She was famous for her peanut butter cake, thin and crispy biscuits, cornbread and salmon patties. Mary worked many years in Data Entry. The best decisions she ever made were graduating from High School, going to Trade School, and having three wonderful kids. Her life was a living example of this Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ." Mary is survived by her three children; David (Barbara)Darnell, Darlene Mobley, Dawn (Ken)Kirby, grandchildren, Brandi Stevens (Kent Stanley), Bradley Mobley (Henry Bishop), Kyle Delfin, and Kasen Kirby, plus three great grandsons, Trace Stevens, Trent Deerman, and Troy Deerman and her many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
