Mary Rose Deharde

Mary Rose Velek Deharde, age 92 of Seguin, passed away on July 17, 2024. Mary was born on January 31, 1932 in Shiner, Texas, to Mary (Tousek) and Jerry Velek. Mary grew up in Shiner and worked in Yoakum at the leather factory known as Textan. In 1976 the Deharde family moved to Seguin where Tony and Mary purchased and operated a previously owned water well service. Mary worked at Deharde Water Well Service up until she was 90 years old, now owned and operated by her sons Larry and Gary.
Mary was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Seguin as well as Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Other memberships she enjoyed were in the American Legion H U Wood Post 245 and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 245 here in Seguin.
She enjoyed sewing and cooking especially for family and friends. Hosting large family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas were always a favorite and made for many great times and memories.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her previous husband Daniel Barcak, her husband Anton (Tony) Deharde Sr., brother Jerry Velek, and sons-in-law Robert Owen and Perry Lynn Bell Jr.
Survivors include her children, Carol Brzozowski (Charlie), Larry Deharde (Cara), Shirley Ayotte (Chris), Gary Deharde (Donna), and Tony Deharde Jr. (Karen); brother Gene Velek (Evelyn); sister-in-law Lorene Velek; grandkids, Charla Hollingsworth (Alex), Casey Angell (Kenny), Derek Deharde (Noelle), Rawson Young (Ashleigh), Waylon Bell (Cassie), Wendy Rhea (Kevin), Christian Deharde (Koriann), Lena Deharde, and Sam Halm (Callye); great-grandkids, Coy and Jake Hollingsworth, Kodi and Charlee Angell, Ethan and Kaitlyn Rhea, and Perry, Raylee, Sawyer, and Luke Bell; nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 3-5 pm at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 9:30 am at St. James Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am with the Rev. Johnson Le officiating. A reception will follow. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Shiner City Cemetery, 153 CR 348, Shiner, Texas at 2 p.m. Pallbearers will be Rawson Young, Derek Deharde, Sam Halm, Christian Deharde, Waylon Bell, and Kevin Rhea. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Hollingsworth, Kenny Angell, Coy Hollingsworth, Jake Hollingsworth, Ethan Rhea, Perry Bell, Sawyer Bell, and Luke Bell.
