MOLINE-Funeral services for Mary Lou DeLaCruz, 79, of Moline, IL, will be 10 am Tuesday, at St Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3 pm. Mrs DeLaCruz passed away Friday, August 13, 2021, at UnityPoint, Rock Island, IL.
Mary Lou Cervantez was born June 21, 1942, in Galseburg, IL, the daughter of Jesse and Socorro (Alvarez) Cervantez. She married John DeLaCruz April 27, 1963, at St Patrick's Catholic Church, Galesburg. She retired from the former Trinity Rock Island after many years of service.
She liked to bowl and was an all around sports fan, she especially enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs and watching NBA games. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline where she was a member of WINGS. She could be found volunteering at St. Anne and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who adored her grandchildren and grand dogs.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, John DeLaCruz, Moline; daughters, Linda DeLaCruz, Carbon Cliff, IL, and Sally (James) Mack, East Moline; grandchildren, Taylor and Blake Mack; siblings, Wally Cervantez, Nashville, TN, Raymond (Julia) Cervantez, Galesburg, Cecilia Shipp, Henderson, IL, Jennie (Mike) Pacheco, East Moline, Lucille (Wayne) Bergstad, Burgin, ND; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Bartela (Glenn) McCune; and sister-in-law, Lucy Cervantez. Memorials may be made to the ALS Association or St. Anne Catholic Church.
