Mary Deppe Obituary
Mary Ella (Preston) Deppe, 97, of Pinckneyville, IL, formerly of Sparta, IL; born on March 14, 1927 in Fornfelt, MO, the daughter of Oscar Matthew and Mabel (Dorris) Preston; passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mary was a caring mom, grandma and great grandma. She enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing ninety-seven beautiful years with those she loved.
Mary is survived by five children – Sharon (Max) Krisby of Mexico, MO, JoAnn Edler of Russellville, KY, Michael (Sherry) Deppe of Fults, IL, Cindie (Ronnie) Bruno of Pinckneyville, IL, and Jean (David) Hargis of Sparta, IL; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; one sister – Donna (James) McBride of Tilden, IL; daughter-in-law – Pam Deppe of Sparta, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband – Donald Deppe who passed away on January 16, 2015; parents; son – Steve Deppe; three sisters – Marie Spinney, Elizabeth Deppe, and Patsy Guitjahr.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Graveside Services will be held at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, IL on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Leslie Chalupny officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery for services.
Heil-Schuessler & Sinn Funeral Home in Sparta, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs Deppy was my early childhood Sunday School teacher. She had a kind soul and all of the kids loved her. It is amazing her commitment to Gods calling for her to teach young children and if I remember right, she servered in that role for a long time. She made an impact on 100s if not 1000s of kids lives that attended Sparta UMC.
You will be missed Mrs Deppy.

My heart and prayers go out to the family and all who loved her! She taught me how to cook/bake stuff, helped me start sewing, and many other things. I´ll never forget how she would put my girls hair in banana curls using Bobbie pins. I have many fond memories of the holidays with you all. I will always consider you all family. Prayers to get you thru this sad time.
