Mary Dougherty Obituary
Mary R. Dougherty, 85, of Tuscarora, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus.
Born Thursday, Sept. 30, 1937, in Tuscarora, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Bernadette (Wirtz) Dougherty.
Mary was a graduate of Marian Catholic High School with the Class of 1955 and was employed as a bookkeeper in the textile industry prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Bertha's Roman Catholic Church and later St. John XXIII Roman Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Surviving are sisters, Helen M. Dougherty, of Tuscarora, and Kathryn Nester; and niece, Kira Stahler, of Lehighton.
Private services have been entrusted to E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua; 570-668-2550. Interment will be in St. Bertha's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Walker Twp. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.griffithsfuneralhomes.com.
