Mary Duke Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 25, 2025.
Mary Lou Duke, a beloved member of Severna Park, formerly of Glen Burnie and more recently Millersville, Maryland community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at her residence. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Mary Lou's life was a testament to love, dedication, and joyful living.

Mary Lou dedicated nearly two decades of her professional life as an Insurance Processor for the Maryland Auto Insurance Fund/MVA, from 1968 until her retirement in 1987. Her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to her work earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

She was active in the Berrywood South Community in Severna Park and will be fondly remembered for her infectious love of shopping and gift giving. Known for her generosity, Mary Lou never let a birthday or anniversary pass by without sending a card to commemorate the occasion along with a cheerful phone call. Her kindness extended to baking and decorating her home lavishly for every season and holiday. Her home and heart were always open, welcoming both family and new friends, making everyone feel included and loved. She maintained several friendships up until her passing, some of those extending back to her high school days with her graduating class from Seton High School in Baltimore City as well as neighborhood friends in Pigtown on the South West side of Baltimore.

Mary Lou was the loving a devoted wife of her late husband, who served as a Fireman for Engine 37 (decommissioned) in Baltimore City. Married for 61 years to the late Richard Duke, they shared a life rich with joyous gatherings. Together, they enjoyed dancing, entertaining friends, as well as attending bull roasts, cook outs and crab feasts. The couple spent leisurely days at the beach in Ocean City and took memorable trips to Florida, creating lasting memories with those they loved.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Terri Czorapinski and her husband Dennis, Glen Duke and his wife Merrie, and her daughter-in-law Annie Duke (wife of the late Bruce Duke). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Laura, Eric, Keith, Kyle, Cory, Scott, Sam, and Sawyer; and her dear great-grandchildren, Scarlett, George, Maddie, Matthew, Westley, and Riley Mae. She was preceded in death by her father, William Bernard Jenkins, her mother, Johanna Jenkins, her spouse, Richard Duke, her son Bruce Duke; and her siblings Ann Towner, Jean Filson-Pushkin, Lorie Meyers, and Joseph Jenkins.

Friends and family are invited to attend the visitations at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland on Sunday, November 30th, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Monday, December 1st, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
