I am one of Mary’s nieces on the Paquin side. My mother Louise was her sister. During the time my mother was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer my mother was in constant contact with her sister Mary. I met her once during a summer vacation with my mother . She traveled with her other sister Anita. I spoke with her many times by phone after that . She had sent a box of Madi gra beads for my daughter’s kate and kelly who were very young at the time. My mom wanted me to take a trip to visit Mary but sadly my mother passed before that could happen. I enjoyed speaking on the phone with my Aunt Mary many times after my mother had passed. She was a very kind woman and I remember her passing during the hurricane very sad. My name is Deborah Clark and I too am researching family history

Mary Paquin Dyer was born in Newport Vermont on April 18,1928. She died in Waveland Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina. She was one of 11 children. I am one of her nieces. I only met my Aunt on a few occassions so I didn't know her very well. What I do know is she was loved by her family, and that she loved the gulf coast. At the time of her death, she had two sistes & 3 brothers still living up in Northern States. Since her death, she lost 2 brothers and 1 maybe 2 sisters. I know of only her one brother still alive in his mid 80's. This brother had spoken to Mary and pleaded with her to leave for safety before the storm but she said she wanted to stay in her house with her dog. Her sibilings tried to get more information when she died but its sad but to this day, we don't know where she was buried. I hear that her neighbors found her in the house after the storm surge subsided. If someone has more information about Mary, please post what you know. I kept the family history and Mary is a part of the family.
