Mary Elmore Obituary

Mary Alice Elmore, born on February 5, 1947, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away on November 23, 2025, in Independence, Missouri. Mary graced this world for 78 years with her fun and vibrant personality that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mary grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and then relocated to Kansas City Missouri in 1968. She worked at Harrah's casino for many years until retirement in 2013. Mary was known for her feisty and funny demeanor. She was fiercely independent and never shied away from expressing her thoughts. Her conversational skills made her a true people person, able to connect with anyone, anywhere, about anything. Mary had many interests that showcased her love for life. Music was a significant aspect of her life, as she loved many different genres and dancing to her favorite tunes. Las Vegas held a special place in her heart, and she cherished the many trips she took there with her family over the years. She enjoyed her television shows, especially "SVU" and "NCIS". She was a dedicated fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Royals during their World Series days. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as trips to Walmart and Costco, which became more than just errands but enjoyable outings. However, her most treasured role was that of a grandmother and a great-grandmother. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, bringing her immeasurable joy and fulfillment.

Mary's passing is preceded by her parents, Opal and Lester Burroughs; her infant son, James Eugene Elmore Jr.; her siblings, Betty LeCompt and Kenneth Graves; and her son-in-law, Randy Langer. Her legacy of love and laughter lives on through her kids, Ricky Elmore, Cynthia Langer, Charles Elmore (Clara), Marilyn Elmore, and Ashley Guzman; her grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah, Andrew, Brittany, Charles Jr, Brianna, Luke, Ricky Jr., Rhiannon, Marco, and Mia; eight great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Ronald Graves, Barbara Ribaudo and many nieces and nephews.

Mary's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Giri from St. Luke’s Oncology and her Palliative Nurse Rebecca Cruz for their exceptional care of their mom.

Visitation will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri, on November 28, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place the following day, November 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Speaks Suburban Chapel.
