Mary Carolyn Evans

My last visit with Mary was in her apartment in Woodland (2019). Here´s the backstory: My mother and Libby Prest volunteered to be on the Greysolon Daughters of Liberty (DAR) Nominations Committee. Because a former Regent is also required to be on the Committee, Mary volunteered. Mary had a requirement: I needed to be part of the Committee and would also have the important job of driving up from the Cities to wrangle mom (Marilynn Norenberg) and Libby. On the appointed day, I got mom moving, and we picked up Libby on our way to Mary´s place.

My mother was clearly on her dementia-path and did not understand why we were meeting. Mary was so gracious, never becoming impatient with the repeated questions; she and I just got down to business. The slate of officers was formed.

Mary and Bob played bridge with my parents, and therefore Mary watched as the horrid disease slowly took control of my mother´s faculties. As a new member of the DAR, Mary took me under her wing, always found time for me at State Conferences, and helped me with lots of DAR "stuff."
