Mary Camillia Catherine Fitzgibbon

Mary Camilla Catherine Fitzgibbon, 75, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at her home in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel (1801 Morningside Ave) with a Visitation taking place one hour prior. Her final resting place will be Graceland Park Cemetery.

Mary was born on May 22, 1950, to Charles and Alma (VerLinden) Fitzgibbon in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from East High School in 1968 and attended the Nettleton School of Business. In 1996, Mary was the recipient of a kidney transplant.

Mary was a lifelong Sioux Citian. As a housekeeper, she was always there for her parents through their long illnesses. Her kindness extended to both people and animals; she would run with the geese and chickens and liked to feed corn to the cows. Mary was faithful member of Mater Dei Parish ~ Immaculate Conception Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking – some of her favorite foods were goulash, Pepsi, and Hershey candy bars.

Mary is survived by her brother, Michael A. Fitzgibbon, and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alma, and infant brother, Richard.

In lieu of flowers, Mary wished for memorial contributions to be directed to the University of Iowa Kidney Transplant Foundation.
