Mary Jane Foss, 73, of Glenn Heights, Texas, passed peacefully on November 22, 2024. She was born in Concord, Massachusetts, on June 1, 1951. Mary was known for her love of arts, particularly crocheting and drawing, which brought her much pleasure and fulfillment throughout her life. Additionally, her greatest joy was being a grandmother.
Mary enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including playing games such as Yahtzee and Phase 10, which brought her many hours of fun and laughter. She was also a passionate sports fan, with a special love for the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys. Watching their games brought her great enjoyment and excitement.
She is survived by her devoted children, Tamara Butler and Russell Shelton, whose love and presence brought her comfort and purpose. Mary's legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Jessica Shelton, Jennifer Butler, Robert Butler, Nicole Shelton, Ronni Woodward, and Rosie Shelton. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved dearly and cherished deeply. She is also survived by five siblings: Marjorie, Richard, Bill, Jim and Linda. They were an important part of her life and brought her much comfort throughout the years. She is deeply missed by her extended family, including Sarah Marconi, Pamela, Gerry, Nick and Tim Merola, who shared in the warmth and love that defined Mary's life. Mary, known by most as Nanna, was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert Butler and Helen Butler, and her grandson Jacob Woodward, whom she loved deeply and kept close in her heart throughout her life.
A private service will be held for the family. Mary's warmth, creativity, and kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew her. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Mary, please visit our Tree Store.
