Mary Foster Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Judkins Colonial Home - Plainfield on Feb. 8, 2024.
Mary Ann Foster was born on November 17, 1935, to the late Lee Van and Elizabeth Goforth in Summit, New Jersey. Mary Ann was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
Mary Ann graduated from Summit High School in 1954. She worked at Shaw Plastics Company as a warehouse packing employee for 25 years. And then worked at The Summit Medical Group as a Medical File Clerk until retiring. Mary Ann joined Pilgrim Baptist Church at a young age and was an active member of The LG Gospel Chorus.
Mary Ann was a proud resident on Glenwood Place in Summit for 48 years. She was actively involved with the Tennent's Association; helping and organizing many events such as the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, the Easter egg hunts, summer cookouts and the annual car washes to raise money for the annual trips, for the children of Glenwood Place. Mary Ann also helped organized the Neighborhood Watch Program for the Glenwood Place area. She had such a presence in the complex, the kids made up a game about her called, "Here Comes Mary Ann!". Mary Ann enjoyed watching TV soap operas, especially All My Children and The Young and The Restless. It was known to everyone to not call or come by while these shows were on. There was always a place for you in her home; a meal if you were hungry or a palette on the floor to rest your head.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Minister Lori Williams; brothers, Lee Van Goforth, Jr., and Robert Lee Goforth.
Mary Ann leaves to cherish her memories: her son Craig Foster (Mary) of Fort Walton Beach, FL; Deidre Foster Simpson (Marlowe) of Union, NJ; her sister Lois Goforth-Cary of Fayetteville, NC; Grandchildren: Lorissa Tart (Terence), Chanelle Brown, Courtney Foster, Daria Sinclair, Masara Simpson and Devin Foster; two Great-Grandchildren Abram Tart and Winter Eaddy; devoted nephews Steven Martin and Joel Cooper; devoted niece Etta; true friend and sister in Christ, Barbara Williams and the Williams family, devoted Son-in-law Marlowe Simpson, good friend and daughter in Christ, Thomasina Wilson, former spouse John Foster; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and Glenwood Place friends.
