Mary Gaietto Obituary
April 7, 1938 - October 19, 2025
Sister Mary Angela Gaietto, 87, an Ursuline Sister of Toledo, died peacefully at Rosary Care Center on October 19, 2025. Sister Mary Angela was the daughter of the late Louis and Irma (Roos) Gaietto, of Tiffin, Ohio. She entered the Ursuline Convent from St. Mary's Parish, Tiffin, Ohio, in August of 1961. Sister Mary Angela graduated from Calvert High School in 1956, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mary Manse College in 1967 and a Master of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University in 1975.
Sister Mary Angela cherished teaching elementary children at St. John the Baptist School, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Patrick of Heatherdowns, and St. Angela Hall in Toledo; and also at St. Mary and St. Joseph, Tiffin; St. Gerard, Lima; and St. Rose, Perrysburg. Following her long ministry in teaching, Sister Mary Angela became part of the Development Office staff at St. Ursula Academy for six years, and served her community as office assistant at the Ursuline Convent offices until her retirement. Sister Mary Angela's most recent ministry was one of prayer and presence to others.
Reflecting on her many years of ministry, Sister Mary Angela once wrote that she wished to be remembered as someone who was generous with her time and God-given talents, showing kindness, compassion, and love to her family, community, and friends.
Sister Mary Angela was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence, Louis, Thomas, Vincent, Eugene, and Joseph; sisters, Margaret Schleter, Sister Merici (Angeline) Gaietto, OSU, and Irma Rose Hill. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews; and her Sisters and Associates of the Ursuline Community.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, beginning at 3:30 p.m., at Ursuline Center Chapel, 4035 Indian Road, Toledo, Ohio, with a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will take place at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, 85 S. Sandusky St., Tiffin, Ohio. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio.

I had the gracious pleasure to work with, get to know, share prayers, laughs and hugs with Sr. Angela, while I was working at the Ursuline Center. She was as wonderful and caring a person as you can imagine. Friendly, sincere, and loving with a great sense of humor as well. She will be missed, here on earth, but will be Welcomed and 'Right at Home' in Heaven. She has many Sisters she can reunite with as well as her family. GOD BLESS YOU SR. ANGELA, AS YOU GRACED US WITH THE LOVE AND PRAYERS YOU SHARED WITH US. REST IN PEACE, FOREVER.
