I just learned about your mom's passing. I am so very sorry. We taught together years ago when you were in high school. She was so very proud of you and of your family. You are in our prayers. I will miss your mom's smile and loving nature.

It is overwhelmingly wonderful to read the many posts in honor of my mother. Thank you to all for the love and support over the last few weeks. She was truly one of a kind and greatly missed. One thing we all have in common is the honor that she was able to somehow touch each of our lives. Peace, love, and blessings to each of you.

I just read the message from Shavonna Hinton this is mary Ann's sister Barb . We came together to your graduation party. Thank you so much for all your kind words . You were special to her. I do remember all the events you posted. You will see my email , Feel free to email me honey anytime .

There are some teachers who teach, there are others who dedicate themselves to making a lasting impact on the lives of each and every student they meet. Ms. Gangi was that teacher. Even though I haven't been a student of hers for many years, we always kept in touch. Being new to Webster not but a year before she became my teacher, I was still trying to adjust to life in a new town and being different than most of the other students in the class. Being in her classroom, gave me the confidence to be myself and she made me realize just how special and valued I was.

She has been there for every important event in my life thus far. Both my high school and college graduations. When she missed my Sweet 16 because of a family emergency, she stopped by a week later with gifts galore and lots of hugs. I'm really just in shock right now and am trying to understand how someone so incredible can just be gone.

Thank you Ms. Gangi for all you did for me, my family, and the myriad of other lives you impacted forever.

My daughter was lucky enough to be one of Ms. Gangi's students. Joy radiated from her heart! I believe that her heart spoke to children in ways that most people do not understand. Her love for her students went beyond education. It was more about helping each child find their own way! My thoughts and prayers are with her entire family and anyone else who has been touched by her spirit...

I have read each and every message and haven't missed one. Some of you I know personally but some of you I don't either way just know I am thanking every one of you just the same for loving and caring my sis the way you did. I knew what an outstanding and one of a kind teacher she was and was so dearly loved by so many. now it's wonderful to hear and read and to have everyone else know what I have known all my life! I am in shock of the loss of such a special woman and teacher. Mary Ann taught all 3 of my boys at Klem South Elementary. She is what I would describe as the best of the best. She looked at a child and could find the way to pull their strengths out. Such a sad loss. However, Heaven must be rejoicing for an angel has returned home <3

Sweet 'Ms. Mac' with the big friendly smile, that vibrant curly hair and the best hugs EVER. My brothers and I had her for 4th grade in the early 1990s. We loved her and even as little kids we could tell she loved us back. Sending love, love, love to all her family.

I always remember her in my heart .last year she was my son,s teacher that was wonderful year for him.since now he always talk about her .she had miracles hugs which I will never forget. God bless her

As a Klem South parent, I will always think of Mary Ann when I walk through the doors. I'll miss her bright smile... she would go out of her way to find me and thank me whenever I volunteered. And my children didn't even have her for a teacher! But she was always gracious and appreciative. I'm grieving for her now, but soon I'll plant my flowers in my garden and know that her joyous spirit will be around us forever. To her family, friends, colleagues - you're all in my prayers.

We come as your grandchildren
Telling stories of Grandma Honey
dancing with abandon and shenanigans
In memory of our dear grandmother,
we are wrapped in the arms of your daughter.

Paying tribute to our Godmother
Reading and remembering the kindnesses.

I worked with MaryAnn my first year of teaching 21 years ago. We have had a special connection/friendship ever since. MaryAnn made everyone feel as if they were her best friend and every child felt that they were her favorite student...and they truly were. She is one of the most creative, sincere, loving, and stubborn people I have ever known. The impact she has had on my life and countless others is immeasurable. My heart and prayers go out to Halina and her entire family.

Ms. Mac as we knew her was my daughter, Meghann's forth grade teacher. Meghann became a lifelong learner, reader and writer because Ms. Mac inspired her and she was a magnificent role model! My three children had many fine teachers in their years in Webster. Ms. Mac was one of the very finest and speaking as a parent, she was always warm, welcoming, positive, reassuring and inspiring to me. The Kaplun family treasure her and always will. We are sad and our prayers are with her family as well as all who knew and loved her.

You were the most amazing teacher a child could ever ask for. Thank you for everything that you did for me. I will never forgot it. Memories of you will always bring a smile to my face. I love you.

Both of my (now adult) kids were privileged to have had Mary Ann as their 4th grade teacher, and I to have known her as well. It was years ago, near the beginning of her teaching career, back in the days when she was known as Ms. Mac. However, it feels like it was so much more recent, because the impact she had on their lives (as well as on mine) was so profound and lasting. She was able to convey to them their value as individuals, to reinforce the things that made them unique, and to share with them her enthusiasm for learning. I remember how she encouraged my daughter's love of literature, a love she shared. I remember how she told us so often about her beloved Halina. (Halina, did you know that you were a role model to kids you didn't even know?) I sent my kids off to school each day knowing they would be loved, nurtured, and valued. It doesn't get any better than that. My heart breaks for this tremendous losswhat a gift she was to the world!

Twenty two years ago I was Ms Mac's 4th grade student. Hands down she changed my life, taught me to love learning, and what true compassion looks like. She was such an influence on me as a person and an educator. I will miss her warm hugs and shouts of 'Elliott!!' whenever I saw her around town all these years later.

Ms Mac, you will be missed! You left an impression with both of our now adult children.

I will never forget how welcomed you made Kelsey and I feel when Joe and I were together. The first time we met the family was at Chuck's birthday party. As we said our goodbyes that night; you said to Kelsey " If you are going to be a part of this family--you need to learn how to kiss goodbye like an Italian!" I can still see you kidding her about it! Kelsey and I have shared memories of you over the past few days; so many other laughs thru the years with you and the family. Your smile and personality would light up a room. I'm so glad you were a part of our lives! You will always have a special place in our hearts. I am blessed to have known and worked with Mary Ann. She holds a special place in my heart. A beautiful, caring, loving person and gifted teacher. Her students adored her. We often shared stories about our families. Mary Ann was fiercely passionate of her family especially her daughter and grandkids. Her eyes would light up when she spoke of them. You will be missed.

Ms Gangi was my 3rd grade teacher 17 years ago. Around thanksgiving she had us all write a wish down. I had wished for a baby sister. She responded by sharing a picture of her and her sisters on my desk and said I now had sisters of my own! That year my little sister was born! We shared sisters. Every year to follow she would greet us with her warm smiling face and tight hug. She was a one of a kind teacher and person! My thoughts and prayers go to her family! You had a mother, sister, daughter, friend, that touched the lives of so many!

Mary Ann was one of those teachers you will never forget. My son had her in grade school and she had such a positive effect on his life. Way too soon to leave us. She will remain in our hearts forever. Klem South was so lucky to have her.

MaryAnn had a remarkable and precious gift that she shared freely with all who knew her. It was a gift of purest loving regard for you as a person. For the 9 years I worked at Klem South, many of those years co-teaching in MaryAnn's classroom, I saw her gift in constant action. I am sure every student she ever had will remember the light, the laughter and the care that filled her classroom. My condolences to her family and to all who are affected by this tremendous loss. One more short comment/memory of dear Ms Mac- her motto during her first year of teaching was simply" Live-Love-Learn"...the kids loved that and so did all of us parents!! Our family was so lucky to have her in her first, second and fifth years of teaching at Klem South. She never hesitated to come into the nurses' office when I was subbing there; to give a hug; take a hug; and ask how the three Smith kids were doing...wow...no one else ever seemed to make such a wonderful influence on our family, as she did..Rest in sweet peace, heavenly peace., dear friend! May God enfold you in His hands , dear Gangi family..now and in the days to come.

Maryann was my friend. I have worked with her at Klem South for the past sixteen years. We can all learn so much from her by the way she lived her life with intense sincerity and pure love. She was fiercely dedicated to children. Her love and pride for her family was at her very core. As I reflect on my time with my friend, I know that if I can live by her example...the world will be a better place.

I have taught with Maryann for the past sixteen years. She was my friend and someone that I think we can all learn from on how to live our lives with sincerity and pure love. She brought a fierce dedication to children to her work. Her love and pride for her family was a part of her deepest core. I have learned how to be a better person by reflecting on the way she lived and loved each one of us.

I had the privilege of working with Maryann for two years. To watch Maryann teach was to witness a master teacher who so obviously loved her students and her profession. She was loving, thoughtful, genuine and so funny. She talked about her daughter and grandchildren all the time. Her grandkids are the same age as my kids. She used to give me little treats and gifts to take home for my kids. I think she gave me a complement every time I talked to her. She was a pistol- a firecracker. We will miss her so much. She touched the lives of so many students, coworkers and friends. My heart goes out to her family. You are in the thoughts and prayers of everyone at Klem South.

Stan and I loved seeing Mary Ann at all the family events. She is a loving soul. The last time we saw her was at Jacob's birthday party. She gave us a big hug as she always did! Stan was holding one of the twins and she came up to him and said, "I love these little guys". Mary Ann was so full of life and always had a smile of her face! We will miss seeing her at family events, but will always remember her kindness and loving ways...You are now an angel in heaven looking over your loving family! Love you, Mary Ann...Stan and Linda

For so long, you've been such an important part of my life. You were there for so many of my important milestones, and were such a good friend to my Mother, my wife, my sister, my brother, and eventually my children. Always there cheering me on, congratulating me and patting me on the back, even when it wasn't necessary. It's evident my life was just one of many you touched while you were here. I still can't believe I'm writing this. I still cant believe you're gone. You were loved by so many, and even though we didn't see each other all the time, I knew you were always just a phone call away. I'm so glad you were a part of my life, and that you loved everyone in our family unconditionally. As I'm sitting here writing this, I feel like you're sitting right here next to me. The next couple of days will be difficult for many, but I take solace in the fact you're in Heaven with so many who passed before you, and who loved you like you loved us. Mary Ann Gangi was an extraordinary woman, who I had the pleasure of meeting during my student teaching time at Klem South in Janice Allocco-Ange's second grade room. Her genuine love of teaching and for her students was heartwarming! She always, always made sure to speak with me when I returned for subbing positions in the school, just to simply ask me how everything was going. I had the pleasure of spending some time in her classroom as well. Observing her teach and seeing her in her "element" was so inspiring as a student teacher. I can only hope I am half the the teacher, and woman she was. My heart goes out to not only her family, but her co workers, and students, past and present, as well. My deepest condolences to all who knew her, she will be greatly missed!

Our family was so blessed to have Mary Ann not only teach but nurture and love all three of our adult children. I will never forget the first time we met Mary Ann at our 31 year olds open house. She showed us the chain that the students made their first day of school, how it represented each one of them and how if one link came off the whole chain would be broken. She won my heart that evening and she has stayed in the hearts of our whole family ever since. We will miss running into her, her warm hugs and smiling face. My heart aches for everyone who will miss her but especially for the family I know she loved and cherished so much. I hope you find some comfort in knowing how special she was to so many people. My son had Ms. Gangi for the first half of this year before we moved to Ohio. My son is autistic and doesn't quite understand the concept of personal space. He loves to hug and cuddle constantly (not typical autism, I know). Ms. Gangi was the best teacher for him. She loved hugs just as much as he did and didn't mind it at all when he followed her around and "hung" from her. She always saw his potential and never doubted his ability. A week before his birthday in November, she emailed me and told me not to get the Minecraft poster that JT wanted at the book fair because she was planning to buy it and then surprise him by showing up to his birthday party and giving it to him. He was so excited when she came to the party! She even had a going away party for JT before we moved. She was an amazing teacher. We are so sad that she has passed, and we consider ourselves very blessed to have met her.

Ms. Gangi was my favorite teacher at Klem south. She is part of the reason I am where I am today. As a college student I still think of her all the time and the impact she left on Me. She taught her classes to be good to the environment. Our class even raised money to save trees in the rain forest. She was so generous and patient. I still have a cow wind chime she gave me in third grade because we both loved cows so much. I am so blessed to have been able to have her as a teacher and friend. She will be missed

My sympathies to all of Mary Ann's loved ones. Please know that I, too, am deeply grateful for having been her colleague. The most sincere of people, she would talk with me at workshops, hold my hands, and tell me about her students and her work. She loved children, writing, and learning and brightened a room with her gentle spirit, thoughtfulness, and easy laugh. A few years ago, Mary Ann told me all about the Poetry Pole in Brighton, so in love with words and books as she was. I am heartbroken that she is no longer with us and incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to be touched by her goodness. Ms Gangi was my daughter's 3rd grade teacher this current school year. I spent a lot of time in the classroom this year and always remember how grateful she was for everything. Everything was a gift. She loved her students so much and it was evident each time i witnessed her teaching in the classroom. I will never forget when I was helping in the classroom for the holiday party, one student did not have a gift for her. She simply replied with a hug, " You are my gift," and that was who she was. I will always remember her as the teacher that truly brought peace and love to room 201 and so grateful for the gift she gave my daughter as being her teacher this year. She truly was a gift to all of us, My prayers and condolences go out to her family.

Thank you for writing such wonderful and kind words about my sister Mary Ann. Being a teacher was her passion in life; it wasn't a 'job' to her . Throughout the years She would share little stories to me so I knew first hand for a fact she adored each and every student she taught. And even the ones she didn't. Every time we were together either a current or former student would come to her talk to her and of course get one of her famous hugs! I know she'd want the students in her current classroom now to continue doing well. To make sure they keep reading and continue to make good choices inside and outside of the classroom. I didn't know her well but she was the type of woman who left an impression after just one meeting. She was so warm and loving ...what all teachers aspire to be. All three of our now adult children were blessed by having "Ms Mac" as their 4th grade teacher at Klem South! What a spirited, loving woman! She valued each and every little mind who were her students, following their lives even after they left her charge.
