Mary Anne Gawel

Vernon - Mary Anne Gawel, age 65, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Newton Medical Center. Born in New York, New York to the late Vincent Nolan and Elaine Board, Mary Anne grew up in the Bronx, New York before moving to River Edge, New Jersey and graduated from River Dell High School. She moved to the Lake Panorama section of Vernon 40 years ago, where she raised her family. Mary Anne was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She would do anything for her family and her life revolved around spending time with them. She had been a secretary for several companies, commuting to New York City for many years. She also worked as a Realtor for Gem Real Estate in Hamburg and retired from Web-Cote in Hamburg. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church in Vernon. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Vincent Nolan and her sisters, Patricia Olsen and Bridie Maloney. Mary Anne is survived by her husband of 41 years, Michael; her son, Shaun Gawel and his wife MaryAlice of Milford, Pennsylvania and Elaine Chillot and her husband Andrew of Mt. Bethel, Pennsylvania; her grandson, Noah and she was excited to meet her second grandchild who is expected to be born soon; and her sister, Jean Martin. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex.
