Mary H. GILBERTSON

Following a wonderful visit with her soon to be 92 year old Mother and her Brother Gerry's family, Mary passed away suddenly in the home she grew up in on the shore of Lake Independence. Mary was a Yooper Girl and adventurer. She loved Canoeing and Dog Sledding and camping summer or winter. She loved digging in the dirt with her Garden tools and growing things. Mary loved dancing. Reading and wild berry picking were also high on her list of fun things to do. Mary loved to cook and never met a recipe she couldn't change. More than anything she loved her Granddaughters and sharing her passions with them. We all love Mary. Mary was born July 7th, 1954 and entered eternal life on January 5th, 2015. Mary is survived by her husband of 20 years, Lloyd Gilbertson. Son, Jeremy (Toni) Braund, Granddaughters Josie, Sydney and Alex Braund. Son, Dan (Rachael) Braund. Stepson, Michael Gilbertson. Stepson, Olaf (Aimee) Gilbertson. Granddaughters, Halle Thomas, Amira Gilbertson and Raina Gilbertson. Brother, John (Karin) Mattis. Sister, Joan (Fred) Jenks. Brother, Ted (Mareese) Mattis. Brother, Gerard (Sharon) Mattis. Sister, Margie Mattis. And her wonderful Mother, Aurora Mattis, as well as countless nieces and nephews. Many, many great friends near and far will also miss her smiling face. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Spranger officiating. Visitation will be held in the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
