Mary M. Griffin Rushing

Memorial services for Mrs. Mary M. Griffin Rushing of Dublin, Georgia, will be held at a future date.
Mary M. Griffin Rushing was born on Wednesday, September 7, 1932, in Memphis, Tennessee as the tenth child of Reverend Joseph Laron Griffin and Lucille Alberta Griffin. She received her early and high school education at Melrose High School in Memphis, Tennessee. She also attended Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. Her father, Reverend Griffin was the presiding elder in Memphis of the CME Churches. Mary attended Mount Pisgah CME Church.
Mary attended Mount Saint Mary Church in the Orange Mound Subdivision in Memphis, TN. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age. She regularly studied her Bible and was devoted to God's Word throughout her life. She was blessed with the gift of being able to play the piano naturally by ear without ever having taken any musical instructions. She often was the pianist for Sunday School and church services.
Mary received a professional career in the medical community, working in many areas of the hospital as an administrative assistant, Central Supply technician and as a unit coordinator for a Surgical Endoscopy at various locations in the Detroit, MI area. After retirement, she and her husband, Robert L Rushing chose to relocate to Dublin, GA. She attended the Saint Paul AME Church while living in Dublin under the leadership of Pastor Linda Gattis. She made many friends and attended Bible study on a regular basis.
Mary was joined in marriage to Robert L. Rushing, Sr., in 1955, who preceded her in death in 2014.
Mary Rushing passed away on September 24, 2025.
Mary is survived by three children, Linda White, Daniel Rushing and Robert L. Rushing, Jr. She had 7 grandchildren. Gary Jones (who preceded her in death), Kristy Jones. Toby (Wendy) Bond, Korey Bond. Misty White, Lindsay Farron and Daniel Rushing, II. She had 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends to mourn her loss. She had two very special friends in the Dublin area who cared deeply for her, Evelyn Jackson and Alfred Pearson, Jr.
