Forest Lawn Funeral Home - HoustonMary Ruby Bertrand Grochoske, 87, went to be with our Heavenly Father, Tuesday, March 24, 2026 in Houston, Texas, in the home of her eldest daughter, Annette, who took care of her after she felt ill just over a year ago. She was born October 1, 1938 in Basile, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle Carrier and Joseph Bertrand and her brothers, DJ Bertrand, Harold Bertrand, Elwood Bertrand and sister, Mary Jane Deshotel, son, Louis Grochoske and grandson, Rene Grochoske.
She is survived by her daughters, Annette M. Aguillard Elliott, Charlotte A. Pendergraft, Janet L. Vaught, Tommie Grochoske, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Ruby worked until the age of 86 retiring only due to her decline in health. She worked as a bookkeeper through the majority of her career life, most recently for Jaguar Texas Valve & Instruments. She was a very diligent, devoted professional, who took pride in her work. She enjoyed traveling, especially RV camping, cooking and had a keen eye for house renovation. She was a sharp negotiator and knew exactly what she wanted from contractors.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 8706 Almeda Genoa Rd, Houston, Texas 77075, (713) 991-9000. A Rosary Vigil will be prayed at 1:00 PM followed by a service led at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel by Father Paul of Mary Queen Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at the cemetery across the street at 2:30 PM.
