Mary Jane Hansen, 78, of Oglesby, peacefully passed away in her home at 9:57 a.m. December 2, 2025.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025 in Oglesby Union Church. Pastor Bill Jacobsen will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. A dinner will be served following services. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Shields Funeral Chapel, Oglesby is in charge of arrangements.
Mary was born April 11, 1947 in Peru to Mike and Lois (Corless) Liborio. She married Kenneth Hansen, Jr. on October 29, 1971 at Oglesby Union Church. They were married for 54 years.
Mary's life was marked by public service, generosity and care for the next generation, all of which was rooted in her love for Christ. She taught at Deer Park School for 25 years; tutored students at her business, Alpha Learning
Center in Oglesby; and was elected to the Oglesby Public Library Board for two terms after she retired.
As a lifelong active member at Oglesby Union Church, she led the church youth group with her husband, served on several teams, served as a deaconess and taught Sunday school. She and Ken opened their home to missionaries from more than 10 countries and countless friends through the years, providing a place of rest, fun and comfort.
Mary enjoyed reading, being with her family and spending the evenings at home by the fire with her husband Kenneth.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Hansen Jr. of Oglesby; her sister, Nancy (Bradley) Rinehart of Oglesby, and her nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mike and Lois Liborio; and two sisters, Susan Liborio in infancy and Christine (Liborio) Crouch.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Oglesby Union Church or Oglesby Public Library.
Pallbearers will be: Daniel Crouch, Michael Crouch, Joshua Rinehart, Jeremiah Lesman, Michael Marincic, Matthew Marincic, and Jeffery Marincic.
