Mary I. Hinchsliff, 90, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. She was born January 3, 1934 at Perry, Kansas the daughter of Leo and Catherine Abel Parnell. She attended school at Perry and graduated from Perry High School in 1951. She worked at the Santa Fe Railroad Office for several years until Richard came home from the service. Mary enjoyed being a homemaker and everything that entailed. Later Mary was a bank teller, working at the First State Bank, CoreFirst and later the Meriden State Bank. She had been a member of the Oakland Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. She loved to sew, calligraphy, write poetry, play the piano and solving crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
She was married to Richard C. Hinchsliff on February 3, 1952 at the Perry United Methodist Church. Richard survives.
Other survivors include her children, JoAnn Mrstik (Terry) of Topeka, Karen Kiefat of Meriden, Leslie Anderson (Gary) of Meriden and Ray Hinchsliff (Therese) of Wakarusa; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her siblings, Donald, Marvin, Mona; and her son in law, Scott Kiefat.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Parker-Price and Davidson Funerals and Cremations, 245 NW Independence, Topeka Ks 66608, interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Topeka. Following the graveside service, the family will have a reception dinner at the Parker-Price and Davidson Reception Center from 1-3 pm. The family will receive friends from 6:00 -7:30 pm on Tuesday evening, October 29th at Parker-Price and Davidson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
