Mary E. Hollis, beloved mother, ma, and sister, passed away on November 25, 2025, in her hometown of New Albany, Indiana. Born on June 24, 1938, she had embodying the spirit of kindness and warmth throughout her life.
Mary was the daughter of Alton and Lelia Martin, who preceded her in death. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. A talented pianist, Mary found joy in music in her younger years, and she often shared her passion with family and friends. Additionally, she greatly enjoyed playing Bunco, a game that brought her close to her friends, creating an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.
Mary was a proud mother to her daughter, Vickie Dirck, and son, Dale Hollis. She took immense pride in her role as Ma, finding joy and fulfillment in her relationship with her three grandchildren, Jamie Schwartz, Chris (Dallas) Schwartz, and Becca Dirck. Her pride extended even further to her six great-grandchildren: Stokely, Noah, Sawyer, Lavina, Ezra, and Amos. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she was always eager to be involved in their lives, supporting and celebrating their achievements in every way possible.
Mary's sister, Betty Martin, remains a part of her enduring legacy, sharing countless memories of love and companionship throughout the years.
A Visitation to honor Mary's life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, starting at 4:00 PM and concluding at 8:00 PM. All who knew and loved Mary are encouraged to attend to pay their respects and celebrate her remarkable life. Burial will be private at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
Mary E. Hollis leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, one that will resonate through the lives of her family and friends for years to come. She will be remembered not only for her accomplishments but, more importantly, for the profound impact she had on those around her. May she rest in peaceful eternal love.
