Mary Etta Holton, born Keel on July 5, 1944, in Langdale, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, in Longwood, Florida. She was a longtime resident of Geneva, Florida. She was a remarkable woman whose life was characterized by her selflessness, caring nature, and generosity. Mary will be remembered not only for her unwavering love for her family but also for her compassionate spirit which touched the lives of many.

Her hobbies reflected her nurturing character; she found immense joy in books and reading, which provided her with both knowledge and pleasure. Gardening and tending to her yard were passions that allowed her to cultivate beauty around her home while also taking great pride in helping stray animals, particularly cats. Mary cherished quiet moments on her porch, listening to the birds and the gentle sounds of wind chimes, surrounded by the life she so lovingly tended to. Her culinary talents shone through in her cooking and baking, where she gathered family and friends around her table to share meals filled with love.

Mary's family was her proudest accomplishment. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Rose Emery, Patricia Hunt (Eddie Hunt), and Lena Holton (Ralph Wentworth). Her legacy continues through her granddaughters, Joy Folch Arroyo, Kayla Lazo Holton, Mary Elizabeth Holton, and Heather Alt, and her eight cherished great-grandchildren, Arielle, Bryan, Melody, Alice, Azariah, Ezriel, Elizabeth ,and Thomas. Her family provided her immense joy and fulfillment throughout her life.

She is also survived by her beloved siblings: sister Susie Cates, and brothers Grady Keel and Joe Keel, who will carry forward her spirit and warmth in their memories.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Holton; her son, Benjamin Holton; her father, Thomas Keel; her mother, Elma Robinson; and her brothers William, Henry, and Harry Keel. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she is now reunited with them in eternal peace.

Her life is a testament to love, care, and dedication, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Mary Holton will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the light she brought into the lives of others.
