Mary Lynn Hopper

Mary Lynn Hopper passed away on Monday, January 26, at her residence. She was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Chloe Smith. Mary was an active member of the Cordele Garden Club and the Crisp Academy Grandparents Club, where she enjoyed fellowship and community involvement. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. Mary was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Smith Johnson. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Herbert W. Hopper; her children, Dorothy Hopper Finken (Jeff) of Douglasville, GA, Herbert "Wes" Hopper (Renee) of Pitts, GA, Chloe Hopper Harden (Jason) of Carrollton, GA, and Esther Marie Hopper of Ashville, NC; and her sisters, Camille Smith Boyd of Asheville, NC, and Edith Smith Collins of Appling, GA. Mary was a cherished grandmother to Victoria Finken Tucker, Jacob Finken (Valera), Jessica Trumbo (Chris), Sarah Finken, Benjamin Finken, Dr. Russ Hopper (Sarah Ann), Rick Hopper (Leanne), Rachel Hopper, Maggie Mason (Johnathan), and Reese Harden (Hannah); and 15 great grandchildren. Mary will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to her community, and the kindness she shared with all who knew her. Visitation will be held from 1-1:45pm prior to her service. Mary will be laid to rest Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 2 pm at Union Baptist Church.
