Mary Hoskins Obituary

Our Angel's heart stopped beating today. Mom went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

Mary Ann Hoskins, affectionately known as "Miss" by her immediate family, graced the world with her warmth and kindness for 80 beautiful years. Born on September 25, 1945, in Wheeling, WV, she peacefully departed this life on December 4, 2025, at WVU Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, WV.

Throughout her life, Mary Ann embodied a spirit of dedication and compassion. Formerly employed at the Dairy Hut, Yanen Ford, and the Quality Bakery in Moundsville, she found her true calling as a diligent bookkeeper. Her love for engaging with people brought joy to many, as she delighted in making others feel happy and valued.

Mary Ann's passions were as vibrant as the flowers she adored. Music, animals-especially her beloved kitties-and heartfelt gatherings with family and friends filled her days with happiness. A devout Methodist, she was a past president of the Geneviene Johnson Circle, where she fostered sisterhood within her church community. Her involvement in a card ministry further demonstrated her commitment to service and fellowship.

Shopping on QVC was another cherished pastime, a joyful escape where she found treasures that brought smiles to her face and warmth to her home.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, George Russell and Ruth Anna (Marple) Williams; her beloved husband of 31 years, Charles E. Hoskins; her brother, Wayne Russell Williams; her grandson, Christopher Michael Lowry; her sister-in-law, Beverly Williams; and an infant brother and sister.

She leaves behind a loving legacy through her surviving family: daughters Melanie (Jason) Bruno of Moundsville, WV, and Stephanie Berisford (Chuck Roman) of Schuylkill Haven, PA; her brother, George E. Williams of Orange City, FL; grandsons Joey Lowry and Randy Hall; niece Caitlin (Billy) Rohm and nephew David Williams, both from Florida; as well as many cousins, other family members, and countless friends.

Friends are welcome to join the family for visitation on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 1-3 PM and again 5-7 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, in Moundsville. A celebration of her life will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 12 at 11 AM, followed by interment at Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens in Wheeling, WV, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Charles.

Mary Ann's light shone brightly in the hearts of those who knew her, and while she has gone home, her spirit lives on in the cherished memories and lasting love she leaves behind.
