Mary Hovey

September 6, 1944 - November 12, 2025

Mary Ann Hovey, age 81, of Spooner, WI, passed away peacefully on November,12,2025 at Dove Healthcare in Spooner. Mary Ann Hovey was born on September 6, 1944 to William I Hovey and Mary E (D'Amico) Hovey. Mary Ann graduated from Spooner High School in 1962. She was always very active, and could often be found on the tennis courts.

After high school, Mary lived briefly in California and Roanoke, Virginia before moving back to her family home in Spooner. Many people in the area will remember Mary riding her ten-speed bike or walking for miles every day stopping at local businesses. She was also an avid writer, submitting frequent letters to the editor on a variety of local and national issues. Mary was a generous and loving aunt and sister.

Mary is survived by her brother, John Hovey, of Albuquerque, NM; and her nieces, Denise (Steve) Swan of Shell Lake, WI; and Karly (Jake Montgomery) Swan, of Chicago, IL.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Hovey; her brother, Bill Dan Hovey; and her nephew, Derek Swan.

Mary's family would like to thank the staff at Maple Ridge/Dove Healthcare for providing Mary with a loving community for the last eight years.
