Mary Dean Jack

Mary Dean Jack of Rockford departed this earthly life on September 29, 2025. Born on July 28, 1951, in Athens, Alabama, she was the daughter of Wiley and Margaret Horton. Mary moved to Rockford in 1958 from Athens, Alabama. She married Marc Allen Jack on July 19, 1980, who preceded her in death.

Mary was a dedicated professional, serving as the former Vice President of A. L. Williams Insurance company 'Primerica' for 10 years, working at United Parcel Service, and as a self-employed licensed Day Care Provider, running Mary's Day Care for over 30 years. She was a member of Faith Temple Church, where she served in the Women's Auxiliary and mentored the youth. Mary graduated from Auburn High School in the class of 1971 and attended OIC, where she received her certification in carpentry. She was truly a Jack of all trades.

Mary leaves to cherish many loving memories her son, Marlin Jack; three daughters, Felicia Horton, Marquetta Jack, and Melissa Jack; five grandchildren, Marquel Bailey, O'veyonce (David) Puschman, Keith Lindell II, Serenity Lindell, and Feliciti Lindell; two stepdaughters, Laureanette Ingram and Tammisha McCoy; sister, Betty Horton; brother, Hallie (Teia) Powell III; sisters-in-law, Martha (Larry) Bates, Linda (Hosealee) Blakely, and LaVern Jack; godson, Kyle Jack; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends, including special friend, Patricia Leach, special nieces, Bridget Sims and Veronica Horton, and special cousins, Kim Staten and Mary Barnett. She was predeceased by her parents, Wiley Horton and Margaret Powell, stepfather Hallie Powell Jr., son, Marc Jack Jr., three brothers, James, Charles, and Danny Horton, and sister Ola Powell.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 2919 19th Street, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
