Mary Jane Jensen
August 22, 1927 — November 28, 2023
Mary Jane Jensen, 96, of Fergus Falls, MN, passed away on November 28, 2023, at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls. She was born August 22, 1927. Growing up she was a “pin setter” at the bowling alley and a “skate girl” at the roller rink helping others. She was always on the go, reminding others to “just keep moving.” She was active in scouting as a den mother, in church and the sewing club. Always moving, you would often find Mary with her huge vegetable garden and canning, doing yard work, mowing, painting, fixing things and spending time swinging on the big tree in the yard. Mary and Don loved to dance and win contests, from the waltz to square dancing and polka. Mary loved to share the fond memories about her time working at the hospital comforting others and spending time in pediatrics. She continued to keep in touch over the years with her extended TOPS and Kmart friends. Mary was an irreplaceable “fireball” who was filled with unlimited love and left her mark on everyone.
After Don passed, Mary continued to put family first and took many trips to the Twin Cities to stay with family and see her life-long friend Brenda. She traveled across the states whenever she could to see her loved ones. In the early 2000’s she got to know Ray Mensinger and since enjoyed his love and companionship. They were active members of the church, spending time with their families and loved to dance and play bingo. A favorite pastime was sitting with Ray enjoying the weather on the patio and teaching Mary’s little dog tricks. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband, Donald H. Jensen, her daughter, Janice Elaine Jensen, her son Donald H. Jensen, Jr., her grandson Alex Jensen, and her companion Ray.
Survivors include her dear best friends Judy (Frank) Jacobs and Brenda (Roger) Schwensohn; four sons, Ronald (Linda) Jensen, James (Margie) Jensen, Jeff (Judy) Jensen, Daniel Jensen (Andrea), and daughter Jean Jensen; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, many very special nieces and nephews and all their families.
Memorial will be at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls on April 27, Father Alan Wielenski presiding. Visitation at 11:30 a.m., funeral service at 12:30 followed by a light lunch at 1pm. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., along with sharing a blessing on Don and Janice’s graves. In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider a donation to the Mary Jensen Memorial at Our Lady of Victory.
