Mary Jane's Obituary

Mary Jane Remley of South Haven passed away on Sunday November 9, 2025. Born on July 23, 1940 in Petosky Michigan to Daniel and Ida Wasegesic. United in marriage on September 8, 1956 in Tower Michigan to the late Allen Remley.

Mary is survived by her children; Theresa (David) Stieve, Lisa (Rick) Keller, adopted daughter Robin Bray and Foster Children; Becky Harwood, Larry Lambert and Amy Schmidt, 3 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Sophie Conlin and sister in Laws; Linda Ormsbee, Leona Baker and Joan Barrette.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband of 59 years Allen Remley and daughter Michele Remley.

Mary Jane graduated from South Haven High School. She met the love of her life Allen Remley in Petoskey Michigan. They married and together raised three daughters and adopted another. She worked at South Haven Coil, then went on to the South Haven Police Department as a Dispatcher for 5 years and Auxiliary Drug Enforcement Officer for another 5 years. When asked what her most rewarding career was, she would tell you it was that of Foster Parent which both her and Allen did for 12 years. After leaving the Police Department she went to work at Palisades from 1982 -2012 as a Security Officer. Mary Jane's final job was at the Laundromat where she retired from in 2020.

Mary Jane has been described as loving, caring, funny a people person, who never met a stranger. Everyone wanted to know Mary Jane. You could never pull a fast one on her. She was sly like a fox and could read the room, she knew what you were up to before you did. She was also feisty with a little bit of a temper thrown in, she wanted to be in the know and the center of attention. Mary Jane was a caregiver with a big heart always looking out for others.

A Memorial Service for Mary Jane will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday November 18, 2025 at South Haven Community Church, 1045 E. Wilson St. South Haven, Michigan 49090. Pastor Gary Guthrie will Officiate. Mary Jane will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery in South Haven Michigan at a later date.
