Mary Buckey Obituary
October 15, 1926 - May 28, 2025
Mary Janet "Jan" Buckey passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI, where she was born 98 years ago. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Jan will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, friends, and fun. A longtime resident of Ottawa Hills, Jan was a staunch supporter of Ottawa Hills schools, UT Rockets, Sunset House and the Toledo Bar Association Auxiliary. She was the consummate hostess, a talented cook and baker, a prolific gardener and an avid reader of romance novels. Her most treasured times were sitting around the dining room table sharing stories and catching up on the latest shenanigans of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, both in the summers at Lake Michigan and in the winters in Naples, FL.
Jan was predeceased by her husband, Warren; and son, John. She is survived by her remaining four children, Janice Cain (Kelly), Keith (Robin), Jay (Carolyn), Scott (Laura); and daughter-in-law, Amy; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
There will be a private burial followed by a celebration of life on Saturday, August 2nd, in Ludington, MI, where Jan spent the past 75 summers with her family and close friends.
Jan will be dearly missed but heaven just became more fun!

Jan was a great planner, giver and cheerleader for those around her! She volunteered often and was gracious in many leadership roles.
Women's golf at WCC is better today thanks to Jan.

Jan was so full of fun. We worked together on the board for nine hole golf. You could count on her carrying through anything she tackled!
