Benson- Mary Ann B. Fultz Janssen, 81, of Benson, Ill. passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Ill.
She was born on September 8, 1944, in Decatur, Ill. to Newman and Lois Brookshier Fultz.
Mary Ann was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was strong, resilient, hardworking, and always meeting life's challenges with determination and quiet strength. Her steady presence, and deep love for her family defined both her life and the legacy she leaves behind.
Mary Ann shared a long and devoted marriage with her husband, Ricky Janssen.
They were married on November 12, 1986, in Las Vegas, Nev. They built a life ground in commitment, partnership, and family.
She was a dedicated professional. After graduating high school, Mary Ann attended and completed beauty school. She owned and operated Mary Ann's Beauty Salon in Benson, Ill. for many years.
She also worked as a bank teller at Farmers State Bank in Benson, Ill., Commerce Bank in Roanoke, Ill., and Flanagan State Bank in Benson, Ill.
Mary Ann also devoted time to her community teaching Brownie Girl Scouts, selling Avon for many years, and volunteering at St. Peters Lutheran Church, where she helped with counting contributions.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Benson, Ill.
Mary Ann had simple joys that brought her happiness, including coffee time with friends, cooking delicious meals, attending grandkids games and performances, cheeseburgers from Cornerstone Café, thrifting and antiquing with her daughters and Ricky, McDonalds, and spending time in her beloved log home.
Surviving is her husband, Ricky Janssen of Benson, Ill.; her two daughters, Stacey (Steven) Young of El Paso, Ill., Aimee (Brian) Tuttoilmondo of Pueblo, Colo.; her grandchildren, Laura Young of Bloomington, Ill., Matt (Ali) Young of Addison, Ill., Ashley Young of Normal, Ill., Austin Young of El Paso, Ill., Tyler Young of El Paso, Ill., Cole Sullivan of Canon City, Colo., Antonio (Sarah) Tuttoilmondo of Pueblo, Colo., Devon (Brandon) Tuttoilmondo-Card of North Glenn, Colo., and Crystal Tuttoilmondo of Westminster, Colo.; great grandchildren, Teigan Heibenthal of El Paso, Ill. and Ja'Ty Hosea of Bloomington, Ill. Mary Ann also had several cherished nieces, nephews, and brother and sister in laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bennett Cripe and Larry Fultz; a granddaughter, Jennifer Young; and a niece, Kelli Fultz.
Mary Ann received compassionate and loving care in her final days at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice House, where the staff went above and beyond to support both her and her family.
Mary Ann will be remembered for her strength, resilience, generosity, witty personality, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community.
She was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family burial will be held later at Clayton Township Cemetery in Benson, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Benson, Ill.
