A number of years ago, I joined the bulletin folding team at the encouragement of a friend, Gina Schmid. We were still having to fold the bulletins by hand, so it took a dozen or more of us, especially on holidays. A new copier that folded the outer bulletins made life much easier. Over time I came to be aware Mary Lou's skill at porcelain painting and other things. We always talked -- all of us -- and were interested hearing about her little Winston, the dog. Even my husband became a member of our team as he was always my transport. Mary Lou was a talented, intelligent, and charitable Christian. We have all missed her.

Mary Lou and I met through painting porcelain. She was my navigator and at times by driver as we journeyed to porcelain art schools across the United States. I will never forget our first trip together to Mesa, Arizona, as I was teaching at a school there and she was taking a class. On our way, we had to stop at every CRACKER BARREL along the interstate as she was looking to purchase a certain item for relative. Finally, our last trip to CB before we got to Mesa, I told her one stop on our return trip to Houston. That got to be a tradition when we traveled, one stop coming and going. I have some wonderful memories which I cherish. A special friend I will dearly miss.
As for the Houston Club, she was a faithful member and supporting everything. She served in the capacity of president of our state federation. The year she served, I worked hand in hand with as I was vendor chair. It was the last year our federation had such a well attended convention.
To the family, may God's strength give you comfort. Please accept my condolences. I would be at her service but unfortunately, I am in Greenland.
