The Villages, FLA. Mary Noel Jennewine (nee Simmons) died peacefully at Cornerstone Hospice House on Monday, March 30, 2020 after a lengthy illness. She was born in New Jersey on July 11, 1931, the daughter of Harriman and Mildred (Valentine) Simmons.
Noel, as she was known to friends and family, graduated from Home for Incurables in Baltimore, MD in 1952 and worked as a licensed practical nurse for 35 years. She spent the majority of her career working in the radiation oncology unit at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. Noel retired and she and her husband, Kenneth, moved to Pinellas Park, Florida and then to The Villages. Noel was an active member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine Tahuti Court 44, joining the ladies shrine in 1965. She was also a founding member and President of the Al kora Shrine Ladies in The Villages. Noel was a devoted volunteer to all of her organizations as well as a local soup kitchen in Florida. Noel enjoyed bowling and playing golf, watching sports, traveling, and socializing with the Doria Dinner Club and long-time friends Mel and Carol Sue Roberts and Joe and Jo Ann Boschi.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Kenneth Read Jennewine, sister Jane Simmons Bond (William) her stepdaughter, Amy Van Gulick (Robert), and step grandchildren Elizabeth Brady (Andrew), Emily VanGulick, Jeffrey Matta, and Holly Crispens. She is also survived by her nieces Marie Knibbe and Carol Schott and nephews John Everett, James Everett, Michael Everett and Richard Vannozzi.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, Robert Ellsworth Crispens, her stepson Robert Crispens, and her sisters Cornelia Vannozzi, Sarah Page Everitt, and Marre Farrow Learn.
