Our cherished “Jo” passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025, just as she wished—in her own home, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 71. She is now singing and dancing in heaven and most likely playing a game of Whist with Stella and Oscar.

She poured her heart into serving her community, cherished her family beyond words and walked humbly with God - always with a smile, thoughtful encouragement, and most likely a savory pan of bars, or two. Her family is so grateful for the love and joy she shared with so many.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

The service will be livestreamed, recorded, and will be viewable at the bottom of Mary Jo’s obituary page at www.mundwilerfuneralhomet.net.

Mary Jo (Jacobson) Huselid was born on October 5, 1953, in Graceville, MN, to Oscar and Stella (Nelson) Jacobson. She was a beloved daughter of the community, having grown up in the Clinton area, where she developed deep ties and cherished friendships that lasted throughout her life.

A proud graduate of the Class of 1971, Jo furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Concordia College. Following her graduation, she spent a year in Hutchinson, MN, then moved to Benson, MN, before returning to her roots and making her home on the family farm in Clinton.

On July 17, 1976, Jo married her devoted husband, Wayne Huselid. Together, they built a life founded on love, community, and shared values. They were blessed with three children: Jerome, Kari, and Lori.

Jo was a dedicated elementary school teacher and substitute teacher, contributing her knowledge and passion for education to the young minds she nurtured. She often helped with various school activity functions. She also worked at the Clinton Grocery Store and embraced her role as a loving homemaker. Her dedication to the farm was invaluable: field and bookwork, vehicle - machinery maneuvering, and upkeep of the homestead were all vital routines.

Her commitment to service was evident through her volunteer efforts, particularly Meals on Wheels, the Women's Auxiliary, and the Clinton Women's Civic Club. As an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jo served on the church council, taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and also served on several different Trinity Lutheran Church committees, embodying her deep faith and sense of community. She also served on the Glacial Ridge Conference Board and on the ELCA Women’s Synodical Nominating Committee.

Finding true happiness in life’s simple pleasures Jo could be found spending time outside with family, playing cards, riding bike, going for walks, listening to the stories of her elders with intent interest and compassion. She never needed fancy things, but found contentment in the quiet moments and serving others.

Jo had an infectious smile that could light up any room, and she was known fondly as the “baby whisperer,” possessing an uncanny ability to calm a crying baby with just her soothing presence. Her love for family extended beyond mere words; she was a diligent planner and organizer, never missing a birthday or significant event in the lives of her loved ones. Always prepared, she ensured that no one ever faced the table without a warm meal, regardless of the hour after a long day's work on the farm.

In addition to her nurturing spirit, Jo had a passion for card games and was particularly fond of Bingo, especially during Thanksgiving. A true prayer warrior, she devoted her thoughts and energies to uplifting those around her. Whether engaging in heartfelt conversation or sharing a simple snack, Jo gave her undivided attention and always approached life without a single complaint or unkind word about anyone.

Mary Jo leaves behind her beloved husband, Wayne Huselid of Clinton, MN; children: Jerome (Elizabeth) Huselid of Graceville, MN; Kari (Justin) Sawyer of St. Anthony, MN; and Lori (Justin) Hall of Fridley, MN; seven grandchildren: Annika Huselid, Jensen Huselid, Stella Sawyer, Hadley Sawyer, Louise Sawyer, Harper Hall, and Alma Hall; sisters: Elaine (Dean) Christianson of Clinton, MN; and Bonnie (David) Stotesbery of Clinton, MN; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Stella Jacobson.

Mary Jo Huselid will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
