Mary Elaine Johnson

Mary Elaine Johnson passed away on January 17, 2026. She went peacefully at home with her daughter

and two grandchildren by her side.

Elaine was born in Claremore, OK to Fern and Joe Lawrence. She was the fourth child of five children.

Elaine found her true love, best friend, and companion in her husband Rusty. They enjoyed almost 60

years together. Elaine married the love of her life Rusty and they had two children, daughter Laura

(Skeeter) Hailer, and son R. Spike Johnson. Elaine had many occupations throughout her life, but her

most cherished was being a wife, mom and granny. She was a much-beloved wife, mother, sister, sister

in-law, granny, and great granny. She loved playing with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces

and nephews.

Elaine and Rusty enjoyed many things together, one of their favorites being their little adventures, "Up

the Hill." Elaine also had a soft spot for all her little critters, from turtles and dogs to stray cats.

Those left to cherish and treasure memories of Elaine are her daughter, Laura (Skeeter) Hailer and

husband Bill, and son R. Spike Johnson. Grandchildren: Sky Hailer, Seth Hailer and wife Alicia, Breanna

Smith, Ally and Abby Johnson with their mother Nok. Great Grandchildren: Gage Hailer, Gracie Hailer

Blair, Jonah Smith, Parker Hailer and Tori Hailer. Brother Steve Lawrence, sister Jill Hobbs and husband

Dave, brother Billy Joe Rowden. Proceeded in death by her mother Fern Rowden, father Joe Lawrence,

and brother Doug Lawrence.

Interment for both Rusty and Elaine will be held at General Douglas McBride Veteran's Cemetery, 3101

S. Main St. in Roswell NM with Military Honors given to Rusty and, like always in life, Elaine will be

right there beside him.
