Mary Sue Kaufman, age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in Michigan City, Indiana.
Mary was born on April 5, 1936, in Turrell, Arkansas, to Arthur and Mary Watson, who preceded her in death.
Mary married James Kaufman on Sept. 28, 1968, in Michigan City, Indiana. James also preceded her in death.
Mary is survived by her children, Steven Hammons, Patsy (Thomas) Stegemann and Chris (Jenni) Kaufman; grandchildren, Heather Mikels Judy, Nicole (Chip) Phillips, Keith Little and Madyson Kaufman; and great-grandchildren, Jaydyn, Ian, Layla, Dakota and Gracie.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Eric Hammons; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Mary retired from 212 Furniture in sales and was a member of the FOP. She loved her music, especially gospel and the old country. Mary enjoyed cooking for her family, especially her fried chicken and catfish dinners. She loved all of her dogs and called them all "Baby," except for one. More than anything, Mary loved all of her grandchildren. She will be loved and missed by her family and friends.
The family is having a private family ceremony at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, Indiana. Arrangements were entrusted with Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana, 46360.
