Mary L. Kelleher, 70, of Boylston, Massachusetts and Ogunquit, Maine passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Born and raised in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late John Jr. and Janice (LaPorte) Kelleher. She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and Hudson Catholic High. She received a bachelor’s degree in applied science (B.A.Sc.) Health and Wellness from Bridgewater State College in 1977. Mary played on several sports teams at Bridgewater and excelled in volleyball and lacrosse. Mary also played for the Boston Women’s Lacrosse Association.
After graduating Mary was employed by the Marlborough Public School system as a physical education teacher and over the years taught K-12 before being named Coordinator of Health and Wellness for the District. In addition to teaching, Mary coached several sports teams at Marlborough and Hudson Catholic High Schools, Holy Cross College and Clark University.
Mary greatly enjoyed her time in Ogunquit by the sea with many friends there. She kept busy working after retirement and, among other activities, served on the Board of Directors for the TramutoPorter Foundation, which promotes change for good in Maine and around the world and volunteered at Camp Sunshine in Casco, Maine for children with life threatening illnesses and their families.
Mary leaves behind her devoted life partner Cynthia Crowley and sisters and brothers Susan Primeau (Al), Stephen, Timothy (Traci), and Lynne Kall (Kevin), her beloved nieces and nephews Jessica, Jason, Stephanie, Jacob, Scott and Meaghan, her grandniece Lia and grandnephews Nicholas and Bailey, a large extended family and many lifelong friends.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 9, at St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross St. Boylston. Interment will follow in Saint Thérèse Memorial Garden Columbarium outside the church.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, December 8, in the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St. Westborough.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the UMass Memorial Critical Care Unit for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Camp Sunshine www.campsunshine.org or Saint Mary of the Hills.
