Mary Lee (Ames) Detwiler, 77 of Nedrow passed peacefully at home with her family by her side on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Mary was predeceased by her loving parents John and Marjorie (Decker) Mallette and her husband of 38 years, George Detwiler of Syracuse, NY.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Shelley (Jamison) Tomushunas, son, David Detwiler (Jennifer Balenski), step-daughter, April (Robert) Bross, her sister, Nancy (Donald) Wart, brother Tom Mallette (Jacky Bell), as well as loving grandchildren, Alyssa Swank, James Swank, Haley Bross, Erin Bross and several nieces and nephews.
Mary loved to laugh, and loved sharing time with people she loved and who loved her. Mary enjoyed her memories of being a synchronized swimmer, bowling, traveling and fishing. Her dream fish was a Tiger Muskee. She was an avid lover of horses. Mary was a very kind and generous woman. Mary worked as a legal secretary and Notary Public for over 40 years at Alderman and Alderman. She truly enjoyed her job and the people she worked with whose friendships carried on through her life.
Mary always spoke highly of all of her friends which were always held in the highest of places in her heart, and had a special love for friends and neighbors, always looking forward to visits with the children (she loved sharing her sweet treats with them).
Mary will be missed by everyone who knew her and to know her was to love her.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main Street, N. Syracuse, NY 13212 from 4-7pm on Tuesday November 12, 2024. Funeral Services will follow at 7pm.
