Wichmann Funeral Home - Downtown AppletonMary Ann LeFevre (Balza), age 92 of Appleton, WI passed on November 26, 2025 at Ballard Glenn, surrounded by family. She was born to Julius and Florence (Blanik) Balza on September 28, 1933 in Appleton, WI. After graduating from high school, she met the love of her life, Ronald LeFevre, and they were married in August of 1956. They were married for over 30 years, raising 2 wonderful children before his passing in 1998.
Mary devoted most of her free time to her volunteer work, especially if it utilized her knitting skills. Mary worked for many years at Appleton Wire Works / Albany International and was a long-time volunteer at St. Elizabeth’s hospital, knitting countless baby hats for the nursery. Mary also brought her love of knitting to St. Bernadette’s Church as a member of the prayer shawl group to help give comfort to others in need. She enjoyed watching her Packers and Cubs play and was a huge fan of both teams. More than anything, though, Mary loved her family and cherished every moment she spent with her beloved kids and grandkids.
Mary will be missed by her children, Marilyn (Gary) Patterson of Appleton, WI and Bruce LeFevre of Farmington, MI; her granddaughters, Katie Patterson and Lauren LeFevre; her siblings, Joan Schmitt and Helen Schaefer; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; her parents, Julius and Florence Balza; and her siblings, Edith Schreiner, Lois Burch, Robert Balza, William Balza, and Thomas Balza.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E Lourdes Dr, Appleton, WI 54915 with a mass to follow at 11 AM.
Mary’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Diane Fecteau for her devoted friendship and to the compassionate caregivers at Ballard Glenn for their expertise shown to Mary during her time of need.
