Mary Janette Lemons

Mary Janette Pettigrew Lemons, age 93, of LaFayette, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025.
She was born on September 1, 1932, in LaFayette, Georgia, to the late William Malcolm Pettigrew and Janette Caldwell Pettigrew. Janette was married to J.B. Lemons on June 10, 1953. Following their marriage, they lived in East Brainerd, Tennessee, and in 1965 the family moved to the LaFayette area of Walker County, Georgia. She attended Berry College and received a degree in accounting. Janette was a member of the LaFayette First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Lemons.
Janette is survived by her daughter, Karen (Chuck) Betz; sons, Stan (Lynn) Lemons, Mark (Amy) Lemons, and Jay (Melissa) Lemons; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Sue Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 3, at the LaFayette First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Autry officiating.
Interment will take place at the LaFayette City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Lemons, Sam Lemons, Matthew Lemons, Andrew Lemons, Charlie Gwyn, and Steven Brown.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, November 2, and from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 3, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Janette's honor to the LaFayette First United Methodist Church Youth Department.
