Mary Sylveonia Leverette

Mrs. Mary Sylveonia Leverette, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.

Mary was born in Anderson, SC, on January 3, 1939, to Jake and Eloise Woods Wansley.

Mary attended Westside High School, worked at Michelin Tires and retired in 1992.

Mary was a member of New Broadmouth Baptist Church in Honea Path and was an active member of the Deaconess, Pastor's Aid, Missionary Circle and was the Mother of the Church.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Eloise Wansley, daughter, Phyllis Thomas, brothers, Aaron, J.P. and Joe Wansley.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 60 years, Levi Leverette; two daughters, Cynthia Thompson, of Belton, SC; Denise (Wayne) Rhea, of Anderson, SC; two sons, Felton Thompson, III, of Columbia, SC and Levi "Maine" Leverette, of Anderson, SC; seven grandchildren, LeKecia Thompson, Jessica McRae, Whitney Earl, Jerius Thomas, Casandra Thomas, Trey Rhea and Malcolm Rhea; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Inez (Calvin) McDowell and Mary Ann (Anthony) Underwood, both of Anderson, SC; two brothers, J.C. Wansley and Thomas "Bud" (Lola) Wansley, both of Anderson, SC; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members.

The funeral service is scheduled for 2 pm on Sunday at New Broadmouth Baptist Church, and a public viewing will take place on Saturday from 3-7 pm at D. B. Walker Funeral Services. Interment is 10 am Monday, December 8, 2025, at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

The family is at their home at 1001 Johns Avenue, Belton, SC.
