Mary Lou Peoples, 74, of Terry, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Mary Lou lived a life full of joy, service, and deep compassion for others.
Mary Lou grew up in Greenwood, Mississippi. She went on to serve her country in the United States Air Force, carrying strength and grace into every part of her life. She was a woman who found beauty in the simple things-the songs of the birds outside of her window, a day spent fishing by the water, singing along to her favorite tune, a trip to the mountains of the beach, or cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels. More than anything she loved to be around family and friends, telling stories and filling the room with laughter.
She was married 44 years to her husband, Ronald Peoples, who stood by her side through life's journey and made Terry, MS, their home. She dedicated 30 years working for the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery Veterans Administration and to the many veterans she served.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Dorothy Underwood, and her brothers, E.J. and Ricky Underwood.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ronald Peoples; her three sons, Sean Ceccio (Cindy) of Terry, MS, Mark Ceccio of Dayton, OH, and Ron Peoples (Amy) of Brandon, MS. She was a proud grandmother to Anterra Ceccio, Kerrigan Ceccio, and Gavin Peoples, and a delighted great-grandmother to sweet Aurora Nissen. She also is survived by her sister in law, Irene Underwood and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou's laughter and warm spirit will be missed deeply by all who knew her, Her life was a testament to faith, resilience, and the beauty of loving well., A Celebration of Mary Lou's life will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS, A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 9am until 11am, followed by a chapel service and burial at Terry Cemetery.
