At age 84, Mary Lou Margaret Salem (nee French) of Chesterland, OH, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024; beloved wife of Abraham “Abe” Aziz Salem (deceased) for 56 years; loving mother of Mark J. (Kathleen), Christopher S. (Deborah), Michael A. (Renee), Joseph (deceased), John S. (Sheila), Kenneth A. (deceased) and Mary Beth S. (Matthew) Moore; cherished grandmother of Mark, Joseph, Amanda, Michael, Summer, John, Emma, and Meghan Salem, and James and Scott O’Toole, and Amelia and Anna Moore, and great-grandmother of Mark and Charlotte Salem, and Logan and Riley Hienton; daughter of the late George and Lucia (nee Palumbo) French; and sister of Lois (deceased), Sylvia (deceased), Diane (deceased), and Georgeann.
Mary Lou was fun-loving, gregarious, and the life of the party. She was also incredibly kind and full of compassion, and she personified unconditional love to her family and friends. Although she will be sorely missed, she is now reunited with her true love, Abe.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Mary Lou at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 4-7 PM, with closing prayers at 7 PM.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
