Mary Wilson Obituary

MARY “MAE” CATHERINE WILSON
February 22, 1936 ˜ April 20,
2023

Mae passed away at the age of 87 on April 20, 2023, surrounded by loved ones in Vancouver, WA. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister. Mae is survived by her daughter, Michelle Wilson Vandenson; her sister, Dalene Brewer in England; and her five grandchildren, Troy Vandenson, Ashley Black, Brady Vandenson, Shaley Vandenson, and Kylie Vandenson. Mae will join her dearly departed husband Raymond “Ray” Wilson and her son Michael Wilson in Heaven. She was known for her love of family, her Scottish heritage, her adoration of cats, her kind demeanor, her faith, and endless cups of tea.

Born to parents Michael and Mary Mulgrew in Glasgow, Scotland in 1936, Mae was a proud Scottish lass. Mae met her husband, Ray, a member of the US Air Force, while he was stationed overseas in Scotland in 1954. The two fell in love, got married, moved to the Pacific Northwest, and had two children. They were happily married for 66 years until his passing in 2020. Mae was very close to her family and she will be dearly missed.

Mae hosted the best “wee” tea parties filled with scones, sweeties, copious amounts of tea and lots of laughter. She was a founding member of the Daughters of the British Empire in Vancouver, WA and was the longest active member at the time of her passing. Mae was also a cat person. She loved her precious cat Annabelle Rufus who was by her side until the very end.

A funeral service is scheduled for Mae at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 400 S Andresen Rd, Vancouver, WA 98661. A light tea party will be hosted by the family next door at Marion Hall at noon. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society of SW WA or Furry Friends Cat Rescue.

Isa Miller loved Mae so much. ISA would visit me in Florida and always brought Mae her Scottish goodies. I never met Mae but I wish I did, she sounded lovely. Finally at rest with her husband and son, R.I.P Mae. I hope they have steak pie in heaven.

Mae was a devoted and loyal wife, mother and friend. She had a deep faith and I will always remember and cherish our visits the past few years. I know she was anxious to be with Ray and Mike and is resting in peace with them. May her presence continue to be felt by all of her family and friends.
