Mary Rose Mahoney, 68, passed away Monday, November 14th, 2022.
A devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and host of gatherings, Mary's family was her first priority and great joy. Born in Cuyahoga Falls and raised in St. Joseph's Parish, she dedicated her life to the true Catholic spirit of service to those in need. As a teenager, Mary was nationally recognized for her volunteerism in nursing homes. She went on to complete a degree in social work and began her career at Summit County Children Services, building programs to protect at-risk kids. Mary later earned a graduate degree from Case Western and spent the remainder of her career as a celebrated mental health therapist, providing life-changing care for survivors of trauma. The friends she made over the course of her work were among her most cherished. In their thirty-five years of marriage, Mary and her husband Mike made lovely homes together and traveled the world. Upon her retirement, Mary devoted much of her time to Summit County Juvenile Court where she volunteered and served as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), assisting children in foster care with much needed consistency and providing guidance and support in and out of court proceedings.
Preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Rosemarie Cianchetti, brother Michael Cianchetti and sister Kathy Cianchetti, Mary is carried in the hearts of her husband Mike, sisters Martha (Ray) Capotosta and Lori (John) Myers, sister-in-law Teresa Cianchetti, son Paul (Shannon Palmer) Ford, granddaughter Edie Palmer, nieces and nephews, and the many people for whom she provided compassionate care. We remember her in the beauty of plants and flowers, the animals and small creatures that she loved so much, and togetherness.
Our special thanks to the caregivers at Mulberry Gardens in Munroe Falls and Crossroads Hospice.

I worked with Mary as an admin support in Kent Ohio. She became a dear friend as well. I remember praying with her while a baby nephew was undergoing surgery. She adored her Granddaughter and shared photos. Prayers for your family.
