It is with great sadness that the family of Mary A. Mays, age 83, announces her peaceful passing on August 12, 2024, in Dayton, Ohio. Mary’s life was a beacon of selflessness and service, shining brightly in the lives of those she touched.

As the owner of a daycare, she nurtured and guided countless children, treating each one as if they were her own. Her gentle hands and warm heart provided comfort and stability, leaving a lasting impact on every child and family she served. Her work was more than a profession; it was her calling, a reflection of her deep commitment to the wellbeing of others.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Marshall and Olivia Reed Sr.; her sisters, Charlotte Gaulding, Ada Graham, Nice Boyd, Tommie Lee Kidd, Ernestine Woodman, Margaret Longmire, Linda Anderson, Bettie Reed; and her brothers, Adolphus Reed and Marshall Reed Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Walter K. Mays; her daughters, Dianna Menefee (Shawn), Sherita Baker (Andre), and Renita Mays; along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
