Mary Katheryn Edwards McKinney, 95, former longtime resident of Columbia, died Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Senior Rehab & Recovery Center at Limestone Health Facility in Athens, Alabama.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.
She was born on October 31, 1930 in Lewis County, Tennessee to the late Wilburn Breece Edwards and the late Vannie Lee Peach Edwards. On September 24, 1965 she married Roy Clayton McKinney and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2001. Mary managed Foxwood Apartments for 15 years and enjoyed reading and crafting and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her children, Gary Wayne Randall of Kingsport, TN, Renaee (Tim) Hamlin of Madison, Alabama, and Clay (Christy Lynn) McKinney of Centerville, TN; a sister, Lesa Brooks of Lewisburg; two sisters-in-law, Cathy Edwards of Columbia and Barbara Edwards of Santa Fe; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Cheryl Yancey; two brothers, James Edwards and Billy Edwards; two sisters, Agnes Voorhies and Peggy Edwards.
Pallbearers will be Clay McKinney, William Gregory, Trent Pagel, Austin Starling, Chris King, and Hank Roberts.
