Mary Helen McLain Hood, 81, a homemaker, died November 2, 2025, at home. Visitation is Wednesday, November 5, 2025, 10:00am - 11:00am at Church of God in Clarksdale, MS. Funeral services are 11:00am Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Church of God in Clarksdale, MS with burial in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lyon, MS. Meredith Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include her son Bobby Wayne (Annette) Hood of Carroll County, MS; daughters Debra (Phillip) Fouche of Yazoo County, MS, Pricillia (Douglas) Singley of Carroll County, MS, Angel Johnson of Union County, MS; brothers Bo (Bea) McLain of Grenada County, MS, Mack (Penny) McLain of Water Valley, MS, Ricky McLain of Water Valley, MS; sister Deliah (Ricky) Pollan of Batesville, MS; fifteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Ms. Hood was a kind person who always had a smile, kind word and something positive to say about everyone. I wish I had known of her passing before now, because I would have definitely attended her service. She loved me and I grew to love and appreciate her. I pray for her family, especially her daughter that's been throug so much. Family you all were so blessed to have had a family member such as Ms Mary Helen Hood, a person who loved the LORD and demonstrated it in her everyday life! Blessing to the family and thanks for sharing her with me for over 15 years. Rest in peace now Ms Hood, they all should be able to make it on their own now if they allow God to lead them. You paved and showed them the way!
